Living for Para- Para- Paradise

I often use mainstream songs as worship songs.

A tune will come along that just resonates with me on a spiritual level and I can’t help but sing-along, [re]assigning the lyrics in my head as a worship song to God.

They are definitely few and far between, so I really cherish the ones that “click” for me.

This one elicited strong emotion for me.

It’s hard living a life devoted to God. The world begins to weigh you down and the devil tries to break your spirit. Being a Christian, for me at least, means a constant and daily renewal of my faith through devotions, prayer and reminders that through all the trials and tribulations and victories, it’s all worth it during AND in the end.

People always say, “I’m working for the weekend.”

This song reminded me that despite it all, I should hang in there, be strong, not lose faith and press forward, because I’m not just working for the weekend, I’m living for that moment one day, where I’ll see my God face to face and be able to spend an eternity with Him, loving Him.

I’m not just working for the weekend, I’m living for paradise.

“Paradise”

When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep
Dreamed of para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh

When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth

Life goes on
It gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear, a waterfall
In the night, the stormy night
She closed her eyes
In the night, the stormy night
Away she’d fly.

And dreamed of para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh

She dreamed of para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh.

La la la La
La la la

So lying underneath those stormy skies.
She said oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.
I know the sun must set to rise.

This could be para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
This could be para- para- paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh.

This could be para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Could be para- para- paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh.

This could be para- para- paradise
Para- para- paradise
Could be para- para- paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh.

Oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo
Oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo
